Fire Drill.. ahh.. nostalgia..

We had a fire drill exercise in school today! yay!!!!! not.. =.="

I don't really like Mondays much. Even more so if there's gonna be a fire drill. Standing out there in the hot hot sunny sun waiting for it to end... *sighs* Not exactly the way I planned to have a relaxing day in school, catching up on my marking. Yeah well, at least there were 2 fire engines and some firemen.. Sadly, none of them were cute. Ah well, beggars can't be choosers~ *shrugs* So I hung out with a bunch of Primary 5 students I used to teach last term, gossiping about hair and pimples (don't know how that came up =S) and then yay!! it was time to go back into the school. OH! AIR-COND~! GLORIOUS AIR-COND~! ahhh.. the little luxuries in life that we often take for granted.. ^^"

Hmm.. you know, I really wish I had a teacher who hangs out with me and talk about all sorts of crap when I was a kid. Times really change don't you think?

SCHOOL'S OUT!!!

YAHOO~!!!!! I couldn't wait for the end of the school year and now its finally here! Here I am, sitting in front of the computer and thinking to myself, "okay.. now what?". Good Gosh! I haven't fully planned my holidays yet! Sure, there's Penang next week and Koh Samui after that, but what about now? Yeesh! Good news is, I have a karaoke session with dad tomorrow! I kinda wonder though, is it really possible for 2 people to sing 6 hours straight? Hmm... looks like there's only one way to find out =S

Moving on... Last weekend I was working at a booth in this World of Chinese Book fair held at The Mines Exhibition Centre. It was really really cool! There were booths all over the place, selling books, comics, books, stationery, books, IQ games, books, books and more books! BOOKWORM HEAVEN!!! But the saddest thing for me is that ALL THE BOOKS ARE IN CHINESE!!!

Okay, okay, i know, Chinese Book Fair, du-uh! sighs... Well at least there was this little area set up by MPH which sells some books that are in english. Oh yeah, you must be wondering, what is a non-chinese speaking person like myself doing at a booth in a chinese book fair? Weeeellll, I was doing my best to explain science experiments in mandarin to the chinese speaking folks and failing miserably. *winces* Well, at least i do TRY!!! and end up fumbling up some words here and there. *winces again* sigh..

ANYWAYS!!!! Thats all for now.. haha! byes!

Post-Annual Dinner

My school's annual dinner was held at the school hall last friday night. It was a rainy night and i was feeling apprehensive about it. Nevertheless, I went there and was amazed at the effort the management staff put in to the decorations and they were able to create a very 'aloha' atmosphere. There were coconut tree leaves, flower hair clips for ladies, those flowery things you put around your necks, candles, flower petals, coconut shells.. It was truly beautiful.

The food was.. CATERED! YAY! Although there wasn't much variety but the food quality was pretty good. There was satay, spaghetti, prawn kebab, roasted lamb, baked potatos, mushroom soup, salad, fruits and even ice kacang!

The night started off with a welcoming dance by most of the management staff. It was really amusing to see the principal, vice-principal, head of departments and other people dancing in grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts. Then the inevitable happened.... BLACKOUT! Apparent the whole of the area around the school experienced a blackout too! So there we were, sitting in the hall, dressed nicely, and eating food with nothing but candlelight. Although I have to admit I didn't really mind it so much.. until the mozzies started biting.. BAH! MOZZIES!!

After about almost an hour, HURRAY!!! The power came back! YIPPIE~ Then we had lucky draw, some games, and karaoke. I was extremely lucky that night. I won one of the Grand Prizes (there were only two).. I WON AN LG MICROWAVE!!!! Yahoo!!!!! I went home that day feeling really happy and lucky! hehehe~

Pre-Annual Dinner

DURING MORNING MEETING..

wednesday two weeks ago.....

Principle: Teachers, we have good news! Our annual dinner is on next Friday!!
Teachers: *CLAP HANDS!!!!*
Principle: Yes! It will be the same place and same food as last year!!
Teachers: *clap hands*
ME: *wondering about the difference in enthusiasm* (????)

Later on, I discovered from the senior teachers that last year's place is pretty far and the choice of food was extremely limited. Like, 3 mutton, 1 chicken and some veggie.. and there was some spaghetti for the vegetarian teachers. No wonder the difference in the clapping *shrug*

two days later from that day.....

Principle: Teachers, bad news.. we couldn't book the venue for the friday so the dinner is postponed to the following friday after the original date, which is on the 30th of October.
Teachers: (happy coz got more time to shop for clothes)
ME: oh.. okay.

a week ago.....

Principle: Teachers, guess what? Our annual dinner will be in the SCHOOL HALL and the theme is ALOHA!
Teachers: *still processing the sudden change*
Principle: And now the lets have the relief teachers for today...... bla bla bla..
Teachers: *not done absorbing the info*
ME: *school hall???????!?!?!?!?!?!?!* -____________-"

WAHHHHHHH~! Good tactic of changing the topic before anyone can ask any questions! Later on i found out from other teachers that the school was actually trying to reduce the cost of the annual dinner. Right now, everyone (meaning all the teachers) is hoping that the food is not catered from the canteen operator we eat from every day. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised =.=||

Tomorrow night is the annual dinner.. Interesting... >_>"

wow... *dusts off the thick layer of dust on her blog*

Woot! I just decided to get back to blogging and I only just realized the number of comments left on my previous post about the advertising trainee position I had interviewed for. (For those of you who do not know, please refer to previous posts). Turns out I wasn't the only one who ended up going around doing something I thought was annoying and pointless. Well, thanks guys for posting comments. Although one comment caught my eye and I have to say that if doing that kind of job is something you like, then I'm sorry if you felt insulted by my post. However, this is what blogs are about; expressing how you feel about something. Nevertheless, I do agree with the saying of 'don't try, don't know' since it has been my sorta motto throughout life.

-end of topic-

On the other hand.. I'm back and hope to be blogging regularly. I figured out that it'd be kinda fun to blog about my life now as it is. Just an update, I'm currently teaching in a primary school that provides me with plenty of interesting things happening with the kiddies and the teachers alike. Well, short post for today.. more to come!~

New Year, New Beginning

yep folks! a new year is approaching and the rabbit is starting it off with a new job! woohoo! still teaching, only its a full time basis now. stationed in a private school, its gonna be an interesting year coming up! filled with adorable little kiddos which you'll love to death and at the same time send u to your graves sooner (if you know what i mean).

well, christmas was eventful.. had a small BBQ celebration a few days before christmas with a bunch of friends at someone's house with lots of food and drink. fell sick the next day.. T_T

On Christmas Eve, a few of us went to The Curve for some set dinner at Itallianies (however-you-spell-it) and it was completely utterly RUBBISH! ugh! Allow me to explain.. The set goes like this; one appetizer, one main course and one dessert.. two choices of appetizers, about eight choices of main course of varying prices and two choices of dessert. So, hearing from others that one of the appetizers sucked, ALL of us chose the other one; tomato stuffed with crabmeat. The boy and I both chose some Herb Lamb dish for main course and then for dessert, deep fried dough with honey on top called strafoulli.

FIRST problem: "excuse me, we have run out of this appetizer. are you all okay with the other one?" (which happen to be spinach in cream sauce)
GROUP solution: okay.. (as if we have a choice anyways *rolls eyes*)

SECOND problem: "erm, sir, lamb no more already. can you choose another dish?"
me: *shocked expression* what??
the boyfriend: "uh.. okay. we choose another one"
-after some discussion we decided to share ONE set instead-
the boyfriend: "cancel one set and the other one change to the beef.. can i have medium rare?"
waiter: "oh, sorry sir. all beef is well done"

what the??? its supposed to be a steak-beef-thingy and its well done??? chew until your jaw drop off... *sighs* in the end we settled for some turkey dish which turns out to be two tiny little lumps of turkey breast with a really sad looking piece of bacon wrapped around it and 6 brussell sprouts. BRUSSELL SPROUTS!! the boyfriend heroically stuffed one into his mouth, chewed for 2 seconds and spat it out onto the table hahahaha!! it was hilarious! honestly, i didn't get a chance to tell him how horridly it tastes to our malaysian tongue hahaha!!

well anyways, not only did our food taste disappointing, almost everyone at the table agreed that their food are not up to standard either. except one guy who ordered the most expensive set who said his was not too bad. Next came dessert.. one fella ordered the bread pudding and he almost choked on it.. i dare not try after seeing his expression after his first mouthful. The rest of us ordered the fried dough which tasted like biscuit with honey.. correction, biscuit that has been left out to air and is no longer crunchy. OVERALL... we have learned one lesson of the day; NEVER GO TO ITALIANNIES FOR THEIR CHRISTMAS SET DINNER. honestly the biggest disappointment of the entire day. After leaving The Curve, we went back to PJ for a second meal which cost so much less and tasted so much better! So in the end, when midnight came signaling the beginning of christmas day, we were all happily talking and drinking in a normal cafe house wearing santa hats and playing games..

Christmas morning.. i dragged my lazy bum out of bed and managed to get the boyfriend to come to church with me for christmas service. It was nice with all the caroling and singing and short presentations that the church members set up. Rather nostalgic too seeing the kids doing dancing or singing.. reminds me of when i was young and had to do all those things to entertain the adults haha! good times! After service was over, we had lunch with mummy in Pyramid... jammed all the way in, and jammed all the way out.. what to do? christmas day.. sure packed like sardines! Went home after that and prepared to go to cousin's house for christmas dinner.. yumyum..

Evening came along and we dropped by my godmother's house with my sis and her bf to pass christmas prezzies! and surprise surprise! we got christmas red packets! yippiee~! After that we hurried off to my cousins place for christmas dinner. Ooohhh! it was so nice!! There was a roasted whole chicken (not turkey lol) filled with lots of delicious looking stuffing with two sauces provided; brown sauce and cranberry sauce.. a whole slab of turkey ham marinated and cooked to perfection decorated with pineapples and a cherry.. fresh garden salad with lettuces and mushrooms and other greens with a special orange salad sauce to compliment it.. what else? ooh!! a deep fried potato dish which is filled with onions, meat, and some other ingredients i dont know what but it tasted fantastic!! and.. and.. oh yeah! there was this baked potato dish where a layer of bacon is placed at the bottom of the tray, topped with sliced potato and then topped up again with a layer of bacon and for a finale, CHEESE!!!! then stuffed into the oven to bake... ohhhh it was scrumptious!! *slurp slurp* for dessert.. BLUEBERRY PIE!!! baked from scratch using fresh blueberries!! mmmm~~~~ i want more... T______T

AHH... its no wonder i'm so chunky now.. i've been living a life filled with good food, day in day out.. time to diet with the coming new year... T_T

So that was my christmas! If you're reading this, i hope you don't get too confused.. sometimes my chronology of things get really mixed and jumbled up haha! well, take care all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!
